Joe had a busy weekend in the Lowcountry, meeting with workers and buffing a car fender at Earl’s Body Shop on Friday and then taking part in various Water Fest events on Saturday.

Joe rolled up his sleeves and learned how to buff a fender of a car as part of his visit to highlight small business across the Second District.

While at Earl’s Body Shop, Wilson talked about the importance of tax cuts and the need to lessen restrictions on small businesses.

“Places like Earl’s are the lifeblood of our economy,” Wilson said. “I commend owner Fred Krumm for having the leadership to recognize that the liberals idea of growing government does not help small businesses or create jobs. That’s why I enjoy waking in other people’s shoes, getting to do a job and learn more about so many businesses across the district.”

Owner Fred Krumm spoke to the assembled workers about a provision in the “Obamacare” law which requires small businesses to go through more paperwork by having to produce a 1099 form for any vendor they do business with that’s more than $600.

“More paperwork is the last thing we need right now, ” Krumm said. “We all know times are tough now and it sure seems the Obama administration doesn’t have a clue about what it takes to run a small business. We employ more than 20 people here, pay them well and produce great products. We do not need more paperwork headaches and I’m so glad Congressman Wilson is here to stand up for small businesses and workers.”

Wilson voted against the Democrats health care bill and has introduced legislation that would repeal Obama’s health care bill and replace it with more market-based solutions.

Perhaps the highlight of Wilson’s visit was his chance to get down to work. Wilson buffed the fenders of a Corvette! Owner Krumm says Joe’s handiwork with the buffing machine wasn’t bad for a beginner.
